Modern Archives Institute
Scholarship Opportunity
The Virginia State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) invites applicants for its 2013 Modern Archives Institute (MAI) scholarship. The MAI, offered by the National Archives and Records Administration, in cooperation with the Library of Congress, is a two week course of study designed to introduce participants to archival theory and practice and the responsibilities of archival work. This scholarship opportunity is for the Institute to be held June 3–14, 2013 in Washington, D.C. The scholarship award covers Institute tuition (currently $775) and includes publications and instructional materials. Transportation, room, and board are not included. Funding for this opportunity was provided by a generous grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC).
QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this scholarship, an individual must be a Virginia resident and a current employee or volunteer in a public or private institution with significant manuscript holdings. Preference will be given to applicants from smaller institutions with unprocessed manuscript collections.
