Docents

Docents support the Library's public and educational programs, lead tours of the Library’s exhibitions and answer questions about their content. Docents, similar to volunteers, choose to perform services without compensation or expectation of compensation and perform tasks at the direction of and on behalf of the Library of Virginia. Docents must take part in a thorough training program prior to conducting tours and representing the Library at public events.

How Do You Apply?

Applicants must first submit an online docent application. All applications are reviewed, and if an appropriate placement is found, applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview. Selected applicants will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check prior to being accepted.
