Unpaid Internships

The Library of Virginia offers internships to qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and are seeking an internship for academic or course credit without compensation or expectation of compensation. Interns are not employees of the Library and are not entitled to the benefits granted to employees.

Working under the guidance of Library staff, internships provide students with opportunities to participate in a variety of projects, programs, and services and introduce them to specific areas of library, archival, and other professions.

When Are Internships Offered?

Fall Semester: September – December
Spring Semester: February – May
Summer Semester: Late May or Early June – August

What Are the Library's Application Deadlines?*

Fall Semester: July 15
Spring Semester: December 1
Summer Semester: April 15

*Deadlines may be extended if internships have not been filled.
