NewsBank’s America’s Newspapers database offers current and archived electronic editions of nearly 600 local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers—all in one easy to search interface.  Now, through the Library of Virginia web site, state officials, legislators, and employees of state agencies (excluding colleges and universities) may search this resource at their desks free of charge.  In addition, registered users may take advantage of advanced features, such as

• Creating and saving custom lists of newspapers
• Creating and saving searches that retrieve the information you want,
• Arranging for email updates to the saved searches on regular basis
• Creating Distribution Lists to send articles to groups of people.

First, register online with the Library of Virginia to gain access to the service.  You may choose newspapers and search immediately or, to take advantage of advanced features, you may log in to the NewsBank server.

Register for this service. You must read and agree to the Terms of Use.

Your password will be emailed to you within one business day. It will be valid for a year from the day of registration. You will be asked to update your information every year in order to use the database.
