Education - Images and Documents
In August 1997, after almost twenty years of legal battles, Virginia Military Institute, then the last all-male public institution of higher education in the United States, admitted its first women cadets, years after the national service academies had admitted women. Of the twenty-five women who entered VMI in 1997, thirteen graduated in 2001.
