The 2015 UCI Road World Championships are coming to Richmond, September 19-27. The courses will pass in front of the Library and will affect Library access. The Library’s lobby, exhibition, and the Virginia Shop will be open; the reading rooms and parking deck will be closed from September 21 through 25 and the entire Library will be closed on September 26. Description: This one of a kind title, being the only known recorded example of this work, on the first by-laws for the Petersburg Light Dragoons. The Petersburg Light Dragoons entered into service with the 5th Cavalry on May 17, 1861 under the command of Captain Christopher F. Fisher. The company of 59 men rode a train to Suffolk, Virginia where they joined the Southampton and Nasemond troops. They became Company D in the 5th Virginia Cavalry and saw action throughout the Civil War, including Antietam and Gettysburg battles.
