Semper Virginia Society

The Semper Virginia Society is the Library of Virginia Foundation’s membership society. The Semper Virginia Society plays an important role in helping to maintain and grow the Library of Virginia’s magnificent collections and to help preserve these exceptional books, maps, art and artifacts. In addition, membership gifts help make possible a vast array of programs and lectures at the Library of Virginia.

As a member of The Semper Virginia Society, you help support critical Library programs, and you will receive benefits and special invitations to events that only members can enjoy. There are a variety of membership levels [membership levels are named for noteworthy Virginian authors whose work has made an enduring and significant impact on Virginia] including a program crafted for corporate donors which include benefits tailored for the corporate community*. All members are valued contributors to the Library and important members of the community of supporters who believe the Library is an essential component of the fabric of Virginia’s history and culture. Membership Levels

Capt. John Smith Circle [$50]
[Historian, wrote the first history of Virginia]
Benefits include: Subscription to Broadside Magazine and & LVA E-Newsletter; Advance Notice of Lectures, Readings, and Events; Recognition in LVA Foundation's Annual Report.

Sir Francis Wyatt Circle [$100]
[Poet and Colonial Governor of Virginia]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus a 10% Discount in the Virginia Shop.

Mary Johnston Circle [$250]
[Novelist, Short Story Writer and Cookbook Editor]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus a 20% Discount in the Virginia Shop.

Clementina Rind Circle [$500]
[Editor and first female Printer]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus invitations to special Receptions & Openings; ability to rent LVA facilities for meetings, events, etc.

Anne Spencer Circle [$1,000]
[Poet, Librarian and Teacher]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus Behind-the-Scenes VA Treasures Tour; 10% Discount on LVA usage for meetings, events, etc.

Sherwood Anderson Circle [$2,500]
[Novelist]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus choice of LVA Publication with Bookplate.

Ellen Glasgow Circle [$5,000]
[Novelist]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus 4 complimentary tickets to Virginia Literary Awards; $500 credit towards rental of Library facilities for you or the person/organization of your choice.

Douglas Southall Freeman Circle [$10,000 or more]
[Biographer and Editor]
Benefits include: All of the above, plus complimentary table (8 tickets) at the Virginia Literary Awards; Complimentarty rental of Library facilities for you or the person/ organization of your choice.
