Volunteer Postion Information

Interested in completing a few small projects or contributing to a longer project? The Library of Virginia also serves all public libraries in Virginia, through the Library Development and Networking department. These are some of the projects for which we need help.

• Early Literacy Activity Centers - Unpacking, repacking, sorting, cataloging, and marking an assortment of puzzles, puppets, games and educational toys.  These items are placed in public libraries to promote early literacy development in young children.


• Family Literacy Online Calendar – Daybydayva.org is an online family literacy calendar.  We are adding family friendly events and places to the website.  This task requires data entry into a Google doc database.


• Booklist – We need to update our Lexile booklist with the new award books.  This task requires first checking for the Lexile level and then updating our database.


• Performance Database – We provide the libraries a list of recommended jugglers, storytellers, clowns, magicians, musicians and more.  The database needs to be check and updated.
