Library of Virginia Closed through March 29; Events and Programs Suspended through April

The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and community are top priorities at the Library of Virginia. To help limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Library will be closed to the public through March 29, 2020. We tentatively plan to reopen our first and second floors on Monday, March 30, but please check our website regularly for updates. We are monitoring the developing situation closely and following guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health, the Office of the Governor, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In addition, the Library is suspending all public events, workshops, programs, and tours through April 30, 2020. Anyone who has registered for a paid event should have received a refund through Eventbrite. We hope to reschedule as many events as possible.

Library users who have books or other materials checked out from us are asked not to return them until the Library reopens. Loan periods will be extended and no fines will accrue while the Library is closed for the current public health emergency.

Library staff will be working during this public health emergency from Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. For Library Reference assistance, call 804.692.3777 or email refdesk@lva.virginia.gov. For Archives Reference assistance, call 804.692.3888 or email archdesk@lva.virginia.gov. For general inquiries, call 804.692.3535 or go to lva.virginia.gov/about/contact/ to find a staff directory. Please leave a voice message and a library staff member will get back to you promptly. Where possible, Library staff members will be encouraged to telework in order to stay healthy while keeping essential agency operations functioning in the weeks ahead.
