Note ID: | JL503 | Weather Conditions: | Sunny, mid 70's | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 4/9/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - General | Work Type: | Floor Conservation | Notes: | Video and digital photos of proposed injection system for reducing squeaking noise in first floor parquet oak strip flooring. At exposed underside of flooring, holes will be drilled through tongue-and-groove joints of historic floor at about 12" centers. An acrylic sealant will be injected through the holes into the gap between historic wood flooring surface and later oak parquet flooring. Sealant is expected to fuse the floor systems together and, thus, stop squeaking. Acrylic sealant can be removed without damaging historic flooring surface if, in the future, the parquet flooring is removed to restore the original floor system. |
