Notes: Greg Cowan from Tidewater Preservation prepares the chimney breast for reinstallation of the historic mantel which has been conserved off-site. A plastic conduit has been installed so that the top of the mantel can receive an electrical receptacle.

Work Type: Mantel Conservation
Notes: The restored mantel has been reinstalled in the Old Governor's Office. Two small brackets recessed into the plaster at the top corners secure the mantel to the chimney breast. New cap molding for the door casings has been milled and installed. Sections of new chairrail and base have been milled and installed. Plaster patching appears to be complete except at the mantel brackets.
