Report Author: Joseph D. Lahendro
Report Date: 5/13/1999
Location: Mansion - Basement - Hall (E) / Hall and Dumbwaiter (R)
Work Type: Demolition
Notes: Video and digital photos of concrete slab demolition at bottom of southeast stair. Where demolition has begun just inside west door, there is a built-up asphaltic waterproofing layer about 3" below the existing slab. This waterproofing appears to be on top of another concrete slab. The extent of the waterproofing is unknown. The waterproofing may relate to when this area was outside, prior to construction of the enclosed breakfast room.

Location: Mansion - Basement - Hall (E) / Stairhall (R)
Work Type: Excavation
Notes: Video and digital photos of historic painted plaster walls below prior floor slab on east and west walls at south half of north stair hall. The plaster stops at about 18" below the prior floor level. On the east wall, there is a possible seam in the brick directly in line with the bottom stair riser, which appears to align with the south jamb of the door on the west wall.

Notes: Video and digital photos of historic finished board taken from west face of east brick wall at bottom of north stair. Board is about 5' long, 7/8" thick, and made of 2 long sections, one about 8" wide and the other about 2" wide nailed to one side of the 8" board. The combined boards are painted with about 1/2" of the outside edge of the 2" board unpainted. The composite board was laying against the wall face, not fastened, with its bottom about 18" below the just removed slab. Wall plaster butted against its north end and concrete from the prior slab against its top side.
