Note ID: | JL116 | Weather Conditions: | Cloudy, mid 80s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/10/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - Beverage Service (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of west wall (east rear wall of original house) where removal of additional wall covering has uncovered more of original exterior wall details. In prior notes, the stone feature just above the addition's floor was thought to be a window lintel. But it is now obvious this feature is the stone belt course. When covered by the addition in 1906 the belt course was unpainted while the face brick was painted. Stone surface is decorated with stone tooling. An original window opening, infilled with brick, is observable. Its north jamb is 5'-11" from inside face of north wall, original brick below the opening extends 2'-0" vertically from top of belt course, and height of opening is about 9' to underside of original stone lintel above. Stone lintel matches other original windows, but is unpainted with surface tooling. There is a penciled inscription on wall plaster covered by later cabinetry which says, "T.A. Alexander, carpenter, 9-7-82." |
