Note ID: | JL132 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - Basement - Tunnel (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of ceiling following removal of plaster and sawn wood lath. Exposed original floor joists and underside of floor boards are painted indicating this space was historically used without a ceiling. A small section of plaster on the south wall was removed exposing a painted original brick wall surface, again indicating the historic finish. Next to the blocked up original west window opening, a 5' section of original floor joist at the ceiling has been removed for a new fan coil unit. The brick has been removed at the top of the original east brick wall for new systems, exposing the bearing ends of original floor joists. Also exposed are two small original struts that spanned the wall and connected the floor joists at each side to provide the flooring support for first floor door openings above. The modern concrete floor slab is being removed for new below-floor system. |

Note ID: | JL137 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - Beverage Service (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of west wall (rear exterior face of original wall) exposed further than before by removal of additional finishes. The stone lintel of an original window opening, now infilled with brick, is clearly observable, with unpainted stone finish highlighted by prominent tooling marks mostly hidden by paint in extant outside lintels. |

Note ID: | JL135 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - North Ballroom (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of fireplace on west wall where its northeast corner wainscoting has been removed exposing the brickwork. There is obviously two periods of brickwork in this corner--an early (original?) one wythe section directly next to the west wall, and a later section forming the remainder of the corner. The later section appears to be early 20th century (probably 1906 when this room was altered) due to the portland cement. See note below for further comment. |

Note ID: | JL136 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - South Ballroom (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of fireplace on west wall where its northeast corner wainscoting has been removed exposing the brickwork. Unlike the north ballroom fireplace (see note above), there is only one period of brickwork evident here, which appears to be historic (original?). Could the outside corners of both fireplaces have been altered in 1906, while the inside corners remained as originally constructed? |

Note ID: | JL134 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - South Foyer (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of east brick wall, at south end, where a 2' wide section of plaster and face brick has been removed for new plumbing systems. The end of the door's wood lintel has been exposed, but is too small to estimate its date. |

Note ID: | JL133 | Weather Conditions: | Scattered showers, mid 70s | Report Author: | Joseph D. Lahendro | Report Date: | 6/17/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - South Foyer (E/R) | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Video and digital photos of the north wall, east of the door, where the plaster finish has been removed for new systems. The plaster finish was installed on gypsum baseboard, which is also the finish for the north face of this partition. The exposed framing is circular sawn wood fastened with wire nails. The construction of this partition appears to be second quarter 20th century. |
