Report Date: 7/28/1999
Location: Mansion - South Elevation
Work Type: Miscellaneous
Notes: The south portico and the associated door casings are being stripped of paint. The portico is enshrouded with polyethylene sheeting. Various chemical and mechanical methods are used to complete the stripping. The contractors prefer using heat guns. A temporary polyethylene "tunnel" helps to control the spread of lead paint fragments or poisonous fumes from the removal process. Workers wear disposable Kevlar or Tyvek suits, hats, gloves, and masks.

Trench runs north-south to connect a utility pipe from the new outside cooling tower to an underground utility vault along the south side of the driveway. Small section of the former brick wall uncovered in the trench appears to be either a T-intersection or corner of the wall.
