Note ID: | MS84 | Weather Conditions: | Sunny, low-70's | Report Author: | Mary Harding Sadler | Report Date: | 4/25/1999 | Location: | Mansion - Basement - General | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Ongoing demolition and abatement. Doors, casing, casework, and plumbing fixtures were being removed from the basement and placed in a van for salvage. Throughout the basement, walls were marked for demolition. Red paint marked the few asbestos locations. Most asbestos was confined to southeast room and room on south side where a length of water pipe was encased with an asbestos wrap. Some pipe elbows were wrapped with asbestos. The hygienist explained measures put in place to protect workers. These include air monitors, glove bags, and a special temporary three-room structure for workers to shower and remove contaminated clothing. |

Note ID: | MS88 | Weather Conditions: | Sunny, low-70's | Report Author: | Mary Harding Sadler | Report Date: | 4/25/1999 | Location: | Mansion - First Floor - Dining Room (E/R) | Work Type: | Miscellaneous | Notes: | Observed the two west wall door casings in the Dining Room. Calder Loth and Jack Zehmer had told me that these doorways were probably relocated (in 1906) to the Dining Room addition from their original location at the end of the Entry Hall. Unlike the other Dining Room door casings, these precisely match the casings of doors opening into the Ladies Parlor and the Old Governor's Office from the Entry Hall. |

Note ID: | MS99 | Weather Conditions: | sunny, low 70's | Report Author: | Mary Harding Sadler | Report Date: | 4/26/1999 | Location: | Carriage House - East Elevation | Work Type: | Demolition | Notes: | Brick have been removed to open a window in the east wall. It was thought that there was a window in this location historically. The rough edges of interior brick seem to contradict that theory. |

Note ID: | MS98 | Weather Conditions: | sunny, low 70's | Report Author: | Mary Harding Sadler | Report Date: | 4/26/1999 | Location: | Carriage House - North Elevation | Work Type: | New Finish Application | Notes: | At the north elevation of the Carriage House a painter and I discussed the masonry hardener and textured coating which will be used for the new exterior wall finish (TAMMS is the manufacturer). A textured coating has been selected in order to mask the unevenness of the brick and of the various layers of old paint remaining on the walls (loose paint is being removed). The masonry hardener was applied to combat the ongoing problems with moisture infiltration and mortar degradation. |
