Extends the policies and practices of paperbased recordkeeping to an electronic environment, and discusses essential characteristics of electronic records, principles of electronic records management, and longterm preservation strategies. Identifies critical issues for public officials to consider when designing, selecting, implementing, operating, and maintaining an electronic records system.

E-mail Management Guidelines (May 2009)
Establishes the basic best practices related to the creation, maintenance, use, and disposition of public records created by all state and local government employees using electronic mail applications.

Digital Imaging Guidelines (September 2008)
Provides best practices for public bodies that are investigating the use of imaging systems for storage and retrieval of public records, and applies to imaging systems that involve routine systematic processing, storage, or retrieval of documents, pictures, maps, drawings, and similar items that constitute public records.
