Report Author: Mary Harding Sadler
Report Date: 6/2/1999
Location: Mansion - First Floor - North Foyer (E/R)
Work Type: Demolition
Notes: Demolition of the Powder Room adjacent to the North Foyer reveals clues about an earlier, perhaps original, north stair that went along the west wall of the stairway. Old wallpaper is also found above the dropped gypboard ceiling. The original doorway from the North Foyer to the Old Governor's Office has now been exposed.

Report Date: 6/2/1999
Location: Mansion - Second Floor - Above Ballrooms
Work Type: Demolition
Notes: Demolition advances in the east wall of the 2nd floor space over the North and South Ballrooms in order to achieve the new openings which will allow access to the First Family's future bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms. The ceiling structure is temporarily shored up. Again, this east wall is the original rear wall of the mansion. Also, the contractors undertake exploratory demolition in order to figure out the precise configuration of the beams that separate the Ballrooms and the center hall below this space.
