Location: Mansion - First Floor - Dining Room (E/R)
Work Type: Floor Conservation
Notes: In the Dining Room's wide, cased entry, the conservators from Tidewater Preservation are repairing the oak parquet flooring. Their challenge is being able to use the oak flooring salvaged from the Stairhall to patch this area. The size and configuration of the Dining Room flooring material is different from the other parquetry.

Location: Mansion - First Floor - Old Governor's Office (E/R)
Work Type: Demolition
Notes: Where drywall has been completely removed from the walls flanking the chimney breast in the Old Governor's Office it is possible to see the historic cornice which was retained in place when the doorways were walled over with drywall. A new plaster cornice was added over the original cornice when drywall was installed over the two doorways.

Report Date: 6/24/1999
Location: Mansion - Second Floor - Above Ballrooms
Work Type: Framing
Notes: All flooring and subflooring has been removed from the area over the North and South Ballrooms. The floor joists are uneven, as a result of numerous modifications, including the construction of several bathrooms, and the relocation of a number of partitions. The framing contractors are "sistering" new 2x's at the top of the historic framing in order to provide a level framing platform on which to install a subfloor and new flooring. The joists are being leveled with the old hearth on the north end (west wall of the space).
