Making Housing Fair: From the Capitol to City Hall
Join us on Wed., April 29, for a conversation with two leaders shaping housing policy in Richmond. Delegate Rae Cousins and Mayor Danny Avula will sit down with Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME) to answer one big question: How can local government and nonprofits work together to expand equal access to housing?
BOOK TALK WITH GEORGE D. OBERLE III
Join us on Thurs., April 30, for a free talk with historian George D. Oberle III on his new book, “Creating an Informed Citizenry: Knowledge and Democracy in the Early American Republic,” which examines early debates in the United States over how to educate constituents of the new nation. Oberle will be joined in discussion by Cynthia Kierner, author and professor of history at George Mason University.

Step back in time with a unique exhibition showcasing historic photographs of Broad Street, taken in 1919 by G.L. Hall, a local photographer who operated a modest studio on Broad Street.

The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce the 2026 Carole Weinstein Author Series, featuring four acclaimed writers whose books explore themes of fractured community, identity, family and the power of genealogy.

WHISK, a popular local bakery known for its inventive takes on French and American pastries, has a location in our lobby. With hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mon–Fri, WHISK offers handcrafted sandwiches, salads and soups made with locally sourced ingredients, as well as a full-service coffee, espresso and smoothie bar.
