- Notes: Address of the resident governor opening the Assembly session, setting out the legislative priorities of the imperial administration, delivered on August 21, 1740. Called in response to the Anglo-Spanish War of 1739-42 (War of Jenkins' Ear), Gooch asked for monies to pay for supplies for the colonial expeditions against Spanish America then gathering.
