About 12 o'clock His Excellency the governor was pleased, by his messenger, to command the attendance of the House of Burgesses in the Council chamber, whereupon in obedience to His Lordship's command, the House, with their speaker, immediately waited upon His Excellency, when he thought fit to dissolve the General Assembly. The late representatives of the people then judging it necessary that some measures should be taken in their distressed situation, for preserving the true and essential interests of the colony, resolved upon a meeting for that very salutary purpose ...

• Notes: Minutes of the rump Assembly held at the Raleigh Tavern following the dissolution of the Assembly by the governor, Lord Botetourt, and non-importation agreement that resulting from that meeting – an agreement drafted by George Mason and proposed to the session by George Washington.
  On page 3, Rind offered an apology for not publishing his Virginia Gazette that week: "The printer wishes for pardon from the public for not publishing a Gazette this week, and he hopes it will be granted in consideration of the weight of public business that he has had to discharge." It was normally printed on Thursday, the day this imprint was set and published.
