Imprint Record
Act Amending Act Regulating and Disciplining the Militia.
- Imprint Number: 1787.042
- Title: [An act to amend the act intitled, an act for regulating and disciplining the militia]
- Sequence Number: 42
- Year: 1787
- Place Issued: Richmond
- Issuing Press: Uncertain
- Author: Virginia. General Assembly.
- Notes: No copy known extant; act was ordered printed separately by the House of Delegates during the October 1786 session; Swem records imprint from journal entry, but did not see a copy; title from reprint as Chap I of the Acts of October 1786 in Hening's Statutes (XII: 234-236).
Journal does not indicate printer; during that Assembly, the task of printing the session's records was split among the three Richmond presses headed by John Dixon, Augustine Davis, and Thomas Nicolson; Dixon was officially the public printer – having become the sole holder of that appointive office on the death of his partner & nephew, John Hunter Holt, on June 8, 1787 – but his office was plagued by production delays, hence the division of session work.
