- Notes: First religious magazine published in Virginia; primarily a project of the faculty of the Liberty Hall Academy (today Washington & Lee University), then a Presbyterian training school, under the leadership of Revs. George Addison Baxter and Archibald Alexander.
The first number is dated October 1804, but text indicates that it was not actually issued until January 1805, so the dating here. For its entire three-year run, magazine was printed on the Lexington press of Samuel Walkup, himself a Presbyterian minister later in life.
