- Notes: Williams was then in command of the second division of the Virginia militia, of which the 40th regiment was a part; Yancey was brought up on charges of "fraud, forgery, perjury, and infamous lying" [p. 4] by a disaffected, former candidate for command of Yancey's regiment, one William S. Mitchell; he was acquitted and his accuser reprimanded.
