“Bridge of Spies” Film Screening and Discussion offered at the Library of Virginia
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – The Library of Virginia will present a free film screening of “Bridge of Spies,” on Friday, Feb. 21, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in its Lecture Hall.
The film will be followed by a discussion with author and historian Gary Powers, who was a consultant on the film. This Cold War thriller tells the story of Powers’ father, pilot and Virginia native Francis Gary Powers, who was shot down while flying over the Soviet Union and later exchanged for Soviet spy Rudolph Abel in February 1962.
Following a Q&A session, Powers will sign copies of his new book, “Cold War Virginia,” which describes the Commonwealth’s central role in the United States’ involvement during the Cold War.
Registration is required at https://lva-virginia.libcal.com/event/13506005. Limited free parking is available underneath the Library at 800 East Broad Street.
