Library of Virginia to Screen a Segment From the “Historic Homes of Virginia” Documentary Film Series

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – The Library of Virginia will present a free screening of a documentary film from the “Historic Homes of Virginia” series that features Library of Virginia collection items and staff members on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, from 12 to 1 p.m. Registration is required at https://lva-virginia.libcal.com/event/15307959.

Virginia’s history lives in its homes, which hold centuries of craftsmanship, resilience and stories waiting to be told. Mutual Assurance has safeguarded these remarkable structures, and its policies help trace the homes’ transformations over time. From grand estates to colonial townhouses, these buildings are more than brick and wood — they are living history, carefully preserved for future generations. This series of short documentaries highlights these homes by uncovering their past, their preservation, and the people dedicated to keeping their stories alive.

The films in the series highlight some of the historic Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia insurance policies in the Library of Virginia’s collections as well as the buildings themselves.

This program is presented in partnership with Mutual Assurance, which produced the series.
