Library of Virginia Launches Redesigned, User-Centric Website

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce the launch of its redesigned website, offering a modern, streamlined digital experience to Virginians and users nationwide who access its vast online resources. The redesign is the first major overhaul of the site in over a decade.

More than 1.5 million users access the Library’s website annually, seeking information on its many events, programs and services, as well as its vast resources, which include 120 digital collections containing over 35 million files that document over 400 years of Virginia’s history, government and people. The redesign aligns with a key objective in the Library’s new five-year strategic plan — to create experiences for users that exceed their expectations, onsite and online.

“Our website is the digital front door to our incomparable archives, programs, resources, services and activities,” said Librarian of Virginia Dennis T. Clark. “We are pleased to be able to transform our site in a way that will deliver an enhanced engagement experience for our users, connecting them to what they are seeking quickly and with ease.”

The implementation of a new technology platform and information architecture will improve management of site content. Additional updates include improved, user-centric navigation; an enhanced search function; streamlined, more relevant content; increased instructional clarity; flexible templates; and more images and graphics that enrich the site’s aesthetics and help to visually present the Library’s story and people.

The Library will continue to enhance the site regularly guided by user feedback. View the redesigned site at www.lva.virginia.gov
