Author David Poole to Discuss His Book “Trusted Source: How a Virginia Nonprofit Gained Bipartisan Support in an Era of Political Polarization” at the Library of Virginia

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA  The Library of Virginia will present a free talk by author David Poole on his new book, “Trusted Source: How a Virginia Nonprofit Gained Bipartisan Support in an Era of Political Polarization,” on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is required at https://lva-virginia.libcal.com/event/14480168.

Poole worked as a newspaper reporter before he launched a one-employee nonprofit, the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), in 1997 to shine light on a blind spot in Virginia’s lax campaign finance system. Since then, VPAP has grown into a trusted resource that addresses some of the most vexing issues of our time: money in politics, the crisis of American newspapers, the fracturing of information sources, and the precipitous erosion of confidence in our institutions. “Trusted Source” serves as a chronicle of recent Virginia political history, bringing to life key players, elections and events.

Aligned with the Library of Virginia’s strategic objective to strengthen civic engagement throughout the Commonwealth, this program will emphasize audience Q&A for an extended dialogue about journalism, politics and civic interaction. A book signing will follow the talk.
