Journeyman printer in Norfolk in 1809.
Rose is an enigmatic figure in the Virginia print trade, leaving only a spare trail of his life and work in extant records. He was employed as a journeyman in Norfolk in November 1809 when he married there, as reported in a few Virginia papers. He was working in Baltimore by 1817 when notices of his unclaimed mail in that city's post office began appearing. And then he died in Baltimore County in March 1821, aged thirty-nine years. Otherwise, Rose is an anonymous tradesman whose origin, training, and employers remain undetermined.
