  The only record of Rothery in the printing trade is that attending his death in March 1795. His passing was reported in the Richmond newspapers of Augustine Davis (119) and Samuel Pleasants (331) on successive days, indicating his association with one or both of those men; that Rothery was then not yet twenty-years-old suggests that he had been trained in the Davis office while Pleasants was still working there (i.e. before October 1794) and that he had yet to separate from his master. He was subsequently buried in the yard of St Paul's Church on Capitol Square under an ornate marker apparently contributed by his printing brethren. No other information on Rothery has yet been found, but the prevalence of his surname in the Norfolk area then suggests that he was from that Virginia neighborhood.
