• Notes: Hanson & Bond were proprietors. not printers, and so dependent on hired tradesmen; their business interests drew the men's attention away from their Gazette over time, leading to the loss of this weekly's primacy in Alexandria to the new Columbian Mirror (Alexandria 02) started in November 1792. A year later, Bond relocated his business to Morgantown, dissolving his partnership with Hanson. Hanson then moved this paper and his press to nearby Georgetown, where the journal reappeared on December 3, 1793 as the twice-weekly Columbian Chronicle; that publication date suggests a termination of the Gazette the month before. However, as the latest surviving issue of this Alexandria paper is the number for August 29, 1793, that ending may have come earlier that fall.
